Nov. 8, 2010 - Box Office: "Megamind" dominates weekend with $47.7 million
(EW.com) -- A trio of new releases propelled the box office to a record weekend, and DreamWorks Animation's and Paramount Pictures' "Megamind" led the way with $47.7 million, according to studio estimates.
The $130 million, CG-animated comedy starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, and Tina Fey got off to a slightly underwhelming $12.5 million start on Friday. But the superhero flick skyrocketed 65 percent on Saturday as parents, starved for a family film to take their tots to, stormed the local multiplex.
According to Paramount, 52 percent of "Megamind's" audience was less than 25 years old, and 66 percent of the movie's earnings came from 3-D screens. For DreamWorks Animation, "Megamind" was their seventh best debut, topping this year's "How to Train Your Dragon," but falling short of summer blockbusters such as "Kung Fu Panda" and the three "Shrek" sequels.
For Paramount, "Megamind" marks the studio's third No. 1 opening in four weeks. The folks on Melrose Avenue will have plenty to be thankful for in a couple of weeks.
Second place went to "Due Date," starring Robert Downey Jr., Zach Galifianakis, and a horny French bulldog. The Warner Bros. film, which was co-produced by Legendary Pictures, grossed $33.5 million -- a great tally for an R-rated comedy, but short of director Todd Phillips' last project, "The Hangover," which debuted to $45 million.
"Due Date" scored a middling "B-" rating from CinemaScore audiences. However, the younger the moviegoer was, the more likely he or she gave the film a better grade. (Those under 18 rated it an "A-"). Since 59 percent of its audience was under the age of 35, "Due Date" may hold up better than its CinemaScore indicates.
Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls," an adaptation of the acclaimed play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf," premiered in third place with $20.1 million. That's lower than usual for the director, but still a very respectable opening, especially when considering that the film is Perry's first to be rated R.
"For Colored Girls" played a bit older than normal for Perry's movies, with 87 percent of the audience more than 25 years old. The serious drama, with its all-star female ensemble including Kimberly Elise, Whoopi Goldberg, Thandie Newton, Kerry Washington, and Janet Jackson, had no trouble attracting Perry's most supportive fan base -- African-American women. According to Lionsgate, 81 percent of the audience was African American, and 82 percent was female. And with an "A" rating from CinemaScore audiences, Perry's fan base clearly loved what they saw.
Summit's "Red" continued its slow-motion descent, slipping a minuscule 17 percent to secure fourth place with $8.9 million. The action comedy, starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, and John Malkovich, has pulled off the rare feat of dropping each week by a smaller percentage than the week before. "Red" fell 31 percent its second weekend, then 29 percent, and now 17 percent for a four-week tally of $71.9 million.
In fifth place was "Saw 3D," which collapsed 64 percent its second weekend for $8.2 million. In limited release, Danny Boyle's Oscar hopeful, "127 Hours," grossed $266,000 from just four locations for a stupendous per-theater average of $66,500.
And the action thriller "Fair Game," starring Naomi Watts and Sean Penn, snared $700,000 from 46 sites -- a solid, if not extraordinary, per-theater average of $15,217.
Overall, the box office earned an estimated $157 million this weekend, breaking the 2003 record of $153 million for the first frame of November. Check back next weekend as another trio of films invades theaters -- the alien thriller "Skyline," the comedy "Morning Glory," and the runaway-train action film "Unstoppable."
US rejects Israel's call for Iran
The US has rejected comments by Israel's prime minister calling for a military threat against Iran to ensure it does not obtain nuclear weapons.
"We know that they are concerned about the impact of the sanctions. The sanctions are biting more deeply than they anticipated and we are working very hard at this," Robert Gates, US defence secretary, said on Monday.
"So I would disagree that only a credible military threat can get Iran to take the actions it needs to end its nuclear weapons programme," he said during a visit to Australia for security talks.
"We are prepared to do what is necessary but at this point we continue to believe that the political-economic approach that we taking is in fact having an impact in Iran."
Benyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, told US Vice President Joe Biden on Sunday that only a "credible" military threat can deter Iran from building a nuclear weapon, Israeli political sources said.
Netanyahu, beginning a five-day US visit, argued that economic sanctions have failed to persuade Iran to stop its nuclear programme.
Peaceful resolution
However, Biden said after the talks that the sanctions "have a bite" and were having a "measurable impact", though he expressed frustration that Tehran had brushed aside overtures by President Barack Obama's administration.
"The only way to ensure that Iran will not go nuclear is to create a credible threat of military action against it if it doesn't cease its race for a nuclear weapon," one of the sources quoted Netanyahu as telling Biden.
In remarks to the Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly in New Orleans, Biden said: "We continue to seek a peaceful resolution and hope Iranian leaders will reconsider their current destructive and debilitating course".
"But let me be very clear about this: We are also absolutely committed to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons."
The West believes that Iran aims to use its uranium enrichment programme to build atomic weapons, and both Israel and the United States have said all options are on the table in dealing with its nuclear ambitions.
But Netanyahu, who has in the past called for "crippling sanctions" against Iran, had made clear that Israel wanted to see if tough economic sanctions could eliminate what it described as a threat against its existence.
Tehran has repeatedly denied it is seeking to build atomic weapons and maintains that it has a right to produce its own fuel for several nuclear power plants it's building for civilian use.
Biden's discussions with Netanyahu comes on the heels of US mid-term elections that left Obama in a weakened position with Republicans in control of the House of Representatives and the Democrats clinging to a slender majority in the Senate.
US politicking
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham set a tough tone on Saturday at a security conference in Ottawa when he said conservatives want "bold" action on Iran.
If Obama "decides to be tough with Iran beyond sanctions, I think he is going to feel a lot of Republican support for the idea that we cannot let Iran develop a nuclear weapon," Graham told the Halifax International Security Forum.
"Sanctions are important. They are increasing pressure on Iran. But so far there has not been any change in the behaviour of Iran and upgrading of international pressure is necessary," Mark Regev, Netanyahu's spokesman, quoted him as telling Biden.
The impasse over Iran's nuclear activities has already led to fresh UN and EU sanctions against Tehran, which were followed by several other unilateral punitive measures by the United States and the European Union.
Sanctions notably ban investments in oil, gas and petrochemicals while also targeting banks, insurance, financial transactions and shipping - which Tehran has brushed off as having no impact.
But Iran has said it is prepared to resume talks from November 10 and proposed that they be held in Turkey rather than Vienna, the site proposed by Catherine Ashton, EU foreign policy chief.
The talks, which include Britain, China, France, Russia, Germany and the US, have been deadlocked since October 2009 when the two sides met in Geneva.
The New York Times reported last month that the Obama administration and its European allies were preparing a new, more onerous offer for Iran than the one rejected by supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei last year.
The offer would require Iran to send more than 1,995 kgs of low-enriched uranium out of the country, an increase of more than two-thirds from the amount required under a deal struck in Vienna.

Nov. 8, 2010 - Chilean miner thanks America for NY marathon support
Chilean miner Edison Pena, who ran the New York marathon in five hours forty minutes, has thanked Americans for supporting him.
Mr Pe?a hobbled his way over the finish line in Central Park at 3.30pm, five hours and 40 minutes after beginning the race in Staten Island.
“I’m not from this country, but I saw posters saying ‘Go Edison!” and 'Go for it Pe?a!' from people I didn’t even know," he said at the finish line.
"The warmth from the American people is amazing.”
The 34 year-old, who was the 12th man to be raised to the surface in the Phoenix rescue capsule from deep below the Atacama Desert last month, had been dubbed "the runner" for his gruelling subterranean exercise regime.
The fitness fanatic and Elvis Presley enthusiast jogged in his heavy miners' boots for several miles each day of his ordeal through dark uneven tunnels finding his footing by the light of his miner's lamp.
He suffered from a knee injury while in the mine, which made his progress during the marathon extremely painful. Mr Pe?a, who sported a knee support for the run, was forced to walk the last section of the course, from Manhattan to the finish.
“I cried twice because of the pain in my knees,” he said. “But I didn’t travel this far to give up."
Carrying aloft the Chilean flag, Mr Pe?a was met at the finish line by his wife, Angélica.
He was invited to participate in the challenge through the streets of Manhattan by organisers, who were inspired by his drive and stamina.
"I could have come just to watch, but I decided to take part, to feel the emotion," he said ahead of Sunday's race.
"I have a strong desire to motivate the others. This is the most important thing for me."
On arrival in New York on Thursday he was a guest on The Late Show hosted by David Letterman, where with gyrating hips and quivering lip the miner won over the audience with his own rendition of Elvis's "Suspicious Minds".
He will visit Graceland, Presley's mansion in Memphis, Tennessee and will make a trip to Las Vegas to see "Viva Elvis," a Cirque du Soleil show, before flying home to Chile.
Chilean Miner Triumphs, Finishes NYC Marathon
(CBS) World record-holder Haile Gebrselassie announced his retirement after dropping out in the 16th mile of the New York City Marathon Sunday. First to finish was Ethiopia's Gebre Gebremariam. Kenya's Edna Kiplagat was the first woman to finish. American Shalane Flanagan took second, the best U.S. finish for a woman in 20 years.
All eyes were on rescued Chilean miner Edison Pena. It wasn't easy but he finished in less than six hours, beating his own goal.
CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano reports for Pena the journey to the finish line of the New York City Marathon began long before race day. Three months ago in Chile, Pena and 32 other miners found themselves trapped after their mine collapsed a half-mile below the earth's surface.
Chile Mine Collapse: Complete Coverage
In the blackness underground in stifling 86-degree heat, Pena began running six, seven miles some days to live.
"I was running to show that I wasn't just waiting around," says Pena through a translator. "I was running to be an active participant in my own salvation."
Salvation came 69 days after the accident and with it international fame for the 33 miracle miners. Pena - miner number 12 - emerged in good health, his life forever changed.
With Pena's newfound fame came an invitation to watch the New York City Marathon but the amateur runner didn't want to stand on the sidelines. Instead he wanted to join the 43,000 other runners at the starting line on the Staten Island side of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.
"I was very eager to take on this challenge, wanted to show the world I could run it," says Pena through a translator.
He remains humble about his ordeal in the mine. "People say we are heroes but I don't think we are. It's just what destiny had in store for us," he says.
Destiny now presents new opportunities. He appeared on the "Late Show with David Letterman" and showed off his love of Elvis Presley, the music he listened to during his runs in the mine.
His trip to New York included a visit to the Empire State building to take in the view 1,000 feet up and a world away from life underground.
His next stop is Graceland to accept an invitation for a private tour of Presley's home.
It's the running Pena hopes people remember. "The message here is that I found a way to run," he says. "I didn't say, 'I can't.' No, I tried and I succeeded and I did it.
A man once trapped is now triumphant, again.
Pfizer Arthritis Study Propels Drugmaker's Pill Into $12 Billion Market
Pfizer Inc.’s experimental pill for rheumatoid arthritis reduced pain and inflammation for 71 percent of patients in a study that may help the company supplant injectable drugs with $12 billion in yearly sales.
The treatment, called tasocitinib, lessened inflammation by 20 percent or more for patients after six months, according to Saeed Fatenejad, head of late-stage trials in inflammation and immunology at New York-based Pfizer. While the medicine raised bad as well as good cholesterol levels during the study, there was no increase seen in heart attacks or strokes.
Pfizer, the world’s largest drugmaker, is racing three biotechnology companies to sell the first pill in a decade for rheumatoid arthritis, which destroys joints in 1.3 million Americans. The drug may post annual sales of $2 billion, said Tim Anderson, an analyst with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. in San Francisco. Pfizer plans to complete four more studies in the first half of next year before seeking U.S. clearance.
“We see the ability, with all of these studies, to get a very broad label,” Fatenejad said in a telephone interview. “This might be the first drug that is going for the original filing with everything: signs and symptoms, quality of life, X- ray data, and then really looking at the various types where the drug could be used.”
Pfizer’s most recent finding, in the last of three phrases of research usually needed for U.S. marketing approval, will be reported Nov. 10 at the American College of Rheumatology meeting in Atlanta. Revenue from tasocitinib may help offset Pfizer losses when its top-selling Lipitor cholesterol pill, with $11.4 billion in annual sales, faces competition next year from cheaper copies in the U.S.
Market Leaders
The rheumatoid arthritis market is dominated by three injectable drugs known as anti-TNF treatments, which cost as much as $20,000 a year and leave patients susceptible to infections.
This includes Enbrel, which Pfizer gained in last year’s $68 billion purchase of Wyeth, and is co-marketed with Thousand Oaks, California-based Amgen. The other two are Humira, sold by Abbott Park, Illinois-based Abbott Laboratories, and Remicade, sold by New Brunswick, New Jersey-based Johnson & Johnson and Merck & Co., of Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.
Tasocitinib is the most advanced pill in a family of experimental treatments targeting a protein called JAK that leads to joint destruction.
‘Drug Works’
“Now we know the drug works, and we know the drug works as a monotherapy, by itself,” said Roy Fleischmann, the study’s lead investigator and professor of internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, in a telephone interview. “We also have a pretty good handle on the safety profile, which has been consistent.”
Tasocitinib raised levels of LDL, often called bad cholesterol because it is linked to heart disease, and increased HDL, or good cholesterol, which lessens heart disease. The ratio between the two, a measure used by some heart doctors to gauge risk of disease, was unchanged. The elevation occurred early in the course of treatment and didn’t increase over time, making it easier to treat if necessary, Fleischmann said.
At the mid-point point in the study, the drug didn’t reach one of its three goals, to increase a measure of disease remission; the results were numerically positive, though not statistically significant, the company said in a statement.
In the Pfizer study, 25 of 611 patients, or 4.1 percent, reported serious adverse events during the six months. Among them, 6 patients had serious infections. That’s “probably a little bit better” than the anti-TNF drugs, though doctors and patients would need to be vigilant, Fleischmann said.
Adverse Events
A 79-year-old woman with a history of heart disease and diabetes died after developing diarrhea followed by renal failure, according to the study.
Even if tasocitinib isn’t safer or more effective than anti-TNF treatments in next year’s head-to-head tests, similar results may help the pill win patients who don’t want regular injections or are among the 20 percent to 40 percent who don’t respond to anti-TNF drugs, Fatenejad said.
The three biotechnology companies developing JAK drugs are: South San Francisco, California-based Rigel Pharmaceuticals Inc., Incyte Corp. of Wilmington, Delaware, and Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. Pfizer’s pill is the only one with results from the third and final stage of tests generally needed for U.S. approval.
Slow to Adopt
Doctors may be slow to adopt new JAK drugs for patients who are getting relief from older treatments, said David Pisetsky, professor of rheumatology and immunology at Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, North Carolina.
While high levels of bad cholesterol linked to tasocitinib may be treatable, physicians may resist adding a drug to patients’ daily treatment regimens.
“Because it’s a new mode of action, there’s great interest, but what’s going to happen in terms of efficacy and safety when you really put it out there?” Pisetsky said in a telephone interview. “There’s always a difference between what happens in a trial setting and what happens in real life.”

Nov. 8, 2010 - Start-Up Covets Browser Market
A Silicon Valley start-up is entering one of the most hotly contested software markets—Web browsers—with a strategy to integrate social networking and other features that have changed the way people use the Internet.
The closely held company, RockMelt Inc., is backed by investors that include Marc Andreessen—who helped develop and popularize the first widely used browser—and William Campbell, a veteran technology executive who is chairman of Intuit Inc. and a board member of Apple Inc.
RockMelt, which is to release a test version of its software on Monday, is entering a market dominated by Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer, Mozilla Foundation's Firefox, Google Inc.'s Chrome browser and Apple's Safari. The start-up hopes to differentiate its product with some fundamental technical differences.
One is that RockMelt isn't only software. It comes with an Internet service that the company will operate and use to funnel updated information to users.
They must log into the software, using their credentials from Facebook Inc. The design allows information about friends from the popular social network to appear without having to keep returning to Facebook.
A selection of a user's Facebook friends remains on one edge of the browser, making it easy to send instant messages to them or share videos or other items by dragging it to that portion of the screen, said Eric Vishria, RockMelt's co-founder and chief executive. Another key feature, he said, is that updates from news sites are pushed constantly to the browser, so users don't have to keep visiting those sites for the latest information.
"The way people use the Web has changed dramatically over the years, but browsers haven't changed much," Mr. Vishria said. RockMelt "brings the browser into this decade," he said.
The company has links to a prior decade of browser wars. Its co-founder, Tim Howes, worked in the late 1990s at Netscape Communications, the company co-founded by Mr. Andreessen that pioneered the browser market until overtaken by Microsoft. He and Mr. Vishria later worked at Loudcloud, a company led by Mr. Andreessen and Ben Horowitz that was renamed Opsware and sold to Hewlett-Packard Co.
Andreessen Horowitz is the lead investor in RockMelt, which has raised $10 million. Other investors, besides Mr. Campbell, include Diane Greene, former chief executive of software maker VMWare Inc., and Ron Conway, a well-known Silicon Valley investor.
Charlene Li, an analyst at the market-research firm Altimeter Group, said that a company called Flock Inc. previously introduced a browser targeted for social-networking applications and has failed to make much headway. On the other hand, she said, the rise of Chrome—which offered tighter integration of Google's search functions than competing products—indicates that users remain open to trying new browsers with the right features.
"This is not going to be everyman's browser," Ms. Li said of RockMelt. But the ability to make browsing a more shared experience with a user's Facebook friends could be a powerful draw to some people, she said.
RockMelt plans to give away the browser. Mr. Vishria said the company has no immedate plans for generating revenue, but he said future options include receiving payments for referrals from search engines, an income source for other browser makers.
Myanmar army-backed parties set to sweep rare poll
Complex election rules thwarted any chance of a pro-democracy upset as Myanmar ends half a century of direct army rule. State TV said voters "freely and happily" cast ballots, but witness accounts suggested low turn-out and voting irregularities.
Official results trickled out over state media, showing the military and its proxy parties ahead, but a clear picture of who won control of parliament could take a day or longer in the reclusive country where timely release of information is rare.
Many who abstained from the vote expressed doubt they could alter the authoritarian status quo in a poll that both President Barack Obama and British Foreign Secretary William Hague described in separate statements as neither free nor fair.
"Many aspects of these elections are not compatible with internationally accepted standards," the European Union's foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, said in a statement.
"The EU calls on the authorities to ensure that these elections mark the start of a more inclusive phase."
Illustrating the strains multi-ethnic Myanmar has faced for decades, a clash erupted between ethnic minority Karen rebels and government soldiers in the border town of Myawaddy, Reuters witnesses on the Thai side of the border said.
Several rockets or mortar bombs fell on the Thai side, a witness said. There were no reports of casualties.
State television said the election was conducted "with a full sense of inclusiveness" and the country's rulers were "handing over sovereign power to the people, which is the ultimate owner."
The vote will not bring an end to Western sanctions but may reduce Myanmar's isolation at a time when neighboring China has dramatically increased investment in natural gas and other resources in the former British colony also known as Burma.
"Myanmar's stability is of upmost importance to us, something that is not of much importance to the West," said China's Global Times newspaper, a tabloid published by the Communist Party mouthpiece, the People's Daily.
Japan said it was "deeply disappointed" that detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi had not been released ahead of the vote.
Japan wanted Myanmar "to ensure that these elections mark the start of a more inclusive phase by implementing measures such as a release of political detainees," its foreign ministry said.
Some analysts say that despite its flaws, the election will create a framework for a democratic system that might yield change in years ahead.
It is the first election since 1990, when Nobel peace laureate Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy beat the army-backed party in a landslide. The junta ignored the result.
Suu Kyi, detained for 15 of the past 21 years, urged a boycott of this poll, saying she "would not dream" of taking part. She could take the spotlight this week, however, ahead of the expiry of her house arrest on Saturday, November 13.
Her release could energize pro-democracy forces and the military will be wary of her supporters massing.
"Only five days more," read a banner hanging outside the headquarters of her now-defunct party.
The junta's political juggernaut, the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), which is closely aligned with junta supremo Than Shwe, is top-heavy with recently retired generals and fielded 27 ministers in Sunday's poll.
It contested almost all of the 1,163 seats that state TV said were up for grabs in parliament and regional assemblies.
Its only real rival, the National Unity Party (NUP), also backed by the army, was running in 980 seats.
While the NUP and USDP are both conservative and authoritarian, they may pursue opposing social and economic policies in parliament, ultimately fostering greater democratic debate in a country where an estimated 2,100 political activists and opposition politicians are behind bars, diplomats said.
An unexpectedly large vote for the NUP would be seen as a subtle jab against Than Shwe since it is thought to be closer to a different faction in the army.
Still, the military will emerge the unquestioned winner. Twenty-five percent of seats in all chambers are reserved for serving generals. Army-backed parties need to win just 26 percent of seats for the military and its proxies to secure a majority.
The junta appears to be taking no chances. At least six parties filed complaints to the election commission, claiming state workers were forced to vote for the USDP.
The National Democratic Force (NDF), the largest pro-democracy party, accused the USDP of "widespread fraud."
Thirty-seven parties are contesting places in a bicameral national parliament and 14 regional assemblies. Except for the USDP and NUP, none has enough candidates to win because of restrictions such as high fees for each candidate.

Oct. 26, 2010 - New MacBook Air Teardown Reveals Relatively Few Apple Design Secrets
In classic iFixit fashion, the latest Apple laptop has been torn to Air Yeezy pieces a mere day after its release event. How exciting! Now we get to find out how Apple managed to cram so much of 2007??s technology into that gorgeous case. Unsurprisingly, Apple has made the new MacBook Air nigh-impossible to service on your own. Not only is the interior secured by Air Max 90 five-sided Torx T5 screws, but most of the parts are so customized (not to say obscure) that you??d be unable to find them in even the most extensive part store. Particularly notable is the storage array, which was tipped as being a unique concoction: A series of Toshiba flash chips (nanometerage unknown), as seen in other SSD drives, but with a layout suitable for Apple chanel handbags purposes. It??s really not that special; it uses a common T6UG1XBG SSD controller, which is found in many other drives. The only real difference between this Apple drive and, say, a Kingston one, is that the Apple one isn??t a standalone component wrapped in a 2.5?? enclosure. Other space-saving techniques are the usual Apple tricks of sandwiching boards together, turning components like Tetris pieces, and so on. As you can see, by far the largest component is the battery cells, which have been split and spread out for maximum balance and heat dispersal. This thing is going to get warm, especially when charging. Remember to use a pillow or lap desk if you??re going to do some couch computing, or else be at risk for toasted skin syndrome. The batteries themselves total 35 watt-hours; a little calculation puts the 11.6?? MacBook Air??s power air jordans consumption at shox R4 a rather low 7W when active, and 50 milliwatts when sleeping. You can thank LED backlighting, nike basketball shoes a low-voltage processor, and solid-state storage for that. All told, it??s a nice little piece of engineering. The 13?? version probably has a little more breathing room; cheap nike shoes I??m sure iFixit is logic-board deep in that one as well, and I look forward to seeing the differences.

Sep. 9, 2010 - Healthy Measures Program Aids Hospitals in Fight Against HAIs
Ugg Ultimate Tall Braid Boots Network Services Company, an international organization of healthcare and janitorial supply distributors, announces the launch of Healthy Measures, a three-step consulting program to aid hospitals in the prevention of healthcare-acquired infections (HAIs) while increasing patient satisfaction scores. Partnering with healthcare facilities to assess their current conditions and cleaning practices, Healthy Measures (www.HealthyMeasuresOnline.com) is helping hospitals meet the standards and guidelines for housekeeping and hand hygiene recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC). "Infections pose an extreme risk to patients during a hospital stay, especially if the patient is already in a vulnerable condition," said Kevin Rudd, Network Services' chief marketing officer. "We've designed Healthy Measures to be an industry- leading solution that enables hospitals to reduce infection rates, thereby safeguarding patients and improving overall patient satisfaction." Ugg Ultra Short Boots The CDC estimates there are approximately 100,000 deaths suffered annually in the U.S. stemming from an estimated two million preventable HAIs. Some of the pathogens that result in HAIs, which have been found to be readily transmitted from environmental surfaces to health care workers' hands and to patients, include Clostridium difficile, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), acinetobacter, norovirus and vancomycin-resistant enterococcus (VRE). But implementation of a hand hygiene and surface sanitation program like Healthy Measures can result in dramatically lower rates of infection. The Healthy Measures program is a three-step process comprised of: - Interviews with key personnel to gain an understanding of the facility's current culture and challenges related to infection prevention; Ugg Ultra Short Le Boots - Facility assessment focusing on patient, public and staff areas to gain an understanding of current processes and procedures, and products used; - Implementation of a comprehensive and customized joint-action plan related to hand hygiene and surface sanitation. "The Healthy Measures Program provides a second pair of eyes when evaluating a facility and emphasizes collaboration by working closely with hospital staff to arrive at a solution," said Rudd. "As part of the comprehensive solution, we provide checklists, educational and training materials, customizable signage, monthly tips, association guidelines, hospital rating websites and access to extensive research." Ugg Upside Boots Research indicates HAIs have become a financial risk to both individual healthcare facilities and the nation's health care industry. The average cost of one HAI to a hospital is $14,000, while the average cost to the U.S. healthcare industry is between $4.5 and $5.7 billion annually (Source: Stone, et al. American Journal of Infection Control 2002; 30:145-52). "Disinfection of the hospital environment and patient care equipment are essential strategies to prevent the spread of HAIs," said Blake Kite, director of environmental services at Banner Estrella Medical Center in Arizona. "One of the biggest things that impressed me about Healthy Measures was that we could decide upon our own action plan. We felt included in the process and part of the solution Ugg Whitely Boots

Sep. 2, 2010 - German bank calls for controversial member to be fired
The German central bank has called on the country's president to dismiss one of its board members over comments he made about immigration and Jews. Carolina Panthers Jerseys The call came after the board met for a second day to discuss the issue. Earlier, President Christian Wulff said he was concerned Germany's image could be damaged by Thilo Sarrazin's remarks. Mr Sarrazin has criticised German Muslims, suggested the existence of a Jewish gene, and warned of ethnic Germans being outnumbered by migrants. The call for his dismissal was an unprecedented move by the Bundesbank - a proudly independent institution - and was taken under unprecedented pressure, says the BBC's European affairs correspondent Oana Lungescu in Berlin. Chicago Bears Jerseys In his book, Germany Abolishes Itself, Mr Sarrazin states Muslim immigrants refuse to integrate. In a newspaper interview about the book, he said that "all Jews share a particular gene". Mr Sarrazin says the book is "very balanced". On Monday, the Bundesbank, which does not have the right to dismiss Mr Sarrazin itself, distanced itself from his comments, saying his remarks were "discriminatory". Cincinnati Bengals Jerseys On Sunday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Mr Sarrazin's remarks were "completely unacceptable" and urged the Bundesbank to act. Aug. 19, 2010 - Robert Gates says US exit from Afghanistan on course
US Defence Secretary Robert Gates says the US will definitely start reducing the number of its soldiers in Afghanistan next July. Air Max 24 7 On Sunday, the commander of Nato forces in Afghanistan, General David Petraeus, said that he might advise President Barack Obama to delay the exit plan. But Mr Gates told the Los Angeles Times there was no question that the US would begin reducing troop levels in 2011. Mr Gates said in another interview that he planned to leave office in 2011 President Obama set 2011 as the date to begin withdrawing forces from Afghanistan in December. Nike Air Max 24-7 At the same time, he approved the deployment of 30,000 extra troops to the country. "There is no question in anybody's mind that we are going to begin drawing down troops in July of 2011," the Los Angeles Times quoted Mr Gates as saying. "With more Afghan forces, we can be on a path to transition in more places around the country," he added. Air Max 360 "The success with the army in particular, I think, bodes well for in fact beginning to have some transitions maybe as early as this spring, but certainly beginning in the summer." Mr Gates played down the possibility of rapid cuts in US troop levels starting in July 2011. In a separate interview with Foreign Policy magazine, Mr Gates suggested that he would leave his post sometime next year. Air Max 90 "I think that by next year I'll be in a position where - you know, we're going to know whether the strategy is working in Afghanistan," he said. "We'll have completed the surge. We'll have done the assessment in December. And it seems like somewhere there in 2011 is a logical opportunity to hand off." Mr Gates' comments come soon after Gen Petraeus said he would not be bound by a 2011 target date to start withdrawing US troops. Air Max 90-360 Deadliest month Speaking on NBC television, Gen Petraeus said he reserved the right to tell President Obama whether the pull-out date was too early. He was speaking after US forces endured their deadliest month - July - since the Afghan conflict began in 2001. Sixty-six US soldiers were killed during July. Gen Petraeus said the Afghan mission was tough and would remain so Air Max 90 360 The general took over command of international forces in Afghanistan last month. His predecessor, Gen Stanley McChrystal, was sacked after he made disparaging remarks about the Obama administration in a magazine article. Support for the war in Afghanistan is waning in the US and other troop-contributing countries as the death toll continues to rise. The number of foreign troops killed since the 2001 invasion is reported to have passed 2,000. Air Max 90 Chi Town The Netherlands ended its mission in Uruzgan in southern Afghanistan two weeks ago, while Canada is scheduled to pull out of Kandahar province next year. Aug. 16, 2010 - Japan GDP figures show sharp slowing of economic growth
Economic growth in Japan weakened significantly in the last financial quarter, official figures show.Air max Between April and June this year gross domestic product - the sum of the nation's goods and services - grew at 0.1%, much lower than expected. Analysts said the country's export-led recovery appeared to be faltering as the value of the yen appreciates. The figure is a stark contrast to the 2.2% German economic growth and 2.4% US economic gain in the same period. The data indicates that China remains poised to overtake Japan as the world's second biggest economy. Air Max 90 That will become clearer early in 2011 when GDP figures for the whole of 2010 become available for each country. The BBC's Roland Buerk in Tokyo says Japan remains one of the wealthiest and most prosperous countries in the world, but the trajectory of its economy has been clear for years. World Bank figures show that in the first eight years of this century Japan's economy expanded by just 5% while China's grew by 261%. Japan has relied on exports for growth, but the problem is that the yen has been rising, making Japan less competitive abroad, our correspondent says. Air Max 95 Latest figures showed that Japanese exports rose in June but at a slower pace than in recent months, raising questions about the strength of the country's economic recovery. The yen hit a 15-year high against the US dollar last week - adding to worries about the impact on exporters. Demand at home in Japan has been weak too, with deflation, or a fall in prices, returning to the economy. 'Risk of collapse' The country's industrial production also fell in June compared with May, although it was up on the same time a year before. Air max 97 Analysts have also warned that austerity measures introduced by governments around the world to reduce debt levels could hit Japan's exports later this year. "With the need to rebuild its public finances, the Japanese government has its hands tied," said Norinchukin Research Institute economist Takeshi Minami, who believes further stimulus is needed. "Japan needs to quickly implement measures to tackle the strong yen, including currency intervention. "The government will shift its focus towards financial measures through the Bank of Japan, such as currency intervention or pumping extra money. It needs to continue maintaining an easy monetary policy." Air Max 360 New Prime Minister Naoto Kan recently said Japan was "at risk of collapse" under its huge debts. The country's central bank also announced a scheme to offer 3tn yen in low-interest loans in an effort to spur economic growth. Air Max 2010 Nike Air Yeezy Nike Air Zenyth Air Max 1 Air Max 1 Leather

Aug. 13, 2010 - Car bomb rocks Colombian capital
A suspected car bomb has exploded near the studios of a major radio station in the north of the Colombian capital, Bogota. Air Max 90 The blast damaged the office block housing Caracol Radio, blowing out the windows of nearby buildings and cars. It was not clear if the radio station was the target of the explosion, which left at least nine people injured. President Juan Manuel Santos, who took office at the weekend, described the blast as a "cowardly terrorist act". "Their only aim is to sow fear and that they will not achieve," he told reporters after visiting the scene on Thursday morning. "We will continue to fight terrorism." Air Max 90-360 Television pictures showed a bus with shattered windows and panicked residents in the streets following the explosion, which happened at around 0530 (1130 GMT), as the Caracol Radio morning show began. The radio programme continued from the 12-storey building despite the explosion. Caracol Radio's Dario Arizmendi described seeing ceiling tiles fall down as he was live on on air. Air Max 90 360 Local resident Julian Wilches told the BBC: "We were woken up by a shockwave and thought it was a tremor." "All our windows are broken - a neighbour on the 12th floor claims a piece of a car made it to her apartment." Another resident, Juan Burbano, said there was "panic" outside on the street afterwards. "Nothing like this happened before. Now we are cleaning up all the glass," he said. Air Max 90 Chi Town The head of the Colombian National Police, Gen Oscar Naranjo, appealed for calm while investigations were carried out. Bogota's police chief, Gen Cesar Pinzon, blamed leftist rebels for the car bomb, but added that officers were not yet sure if the bomb was aimed at the radio station or at several nearby bank headquarters, the Associated Press reported. Bomb attacks on Colombian cities decreased under Mr Santos's predecessor, Alvaro Uribe, who was president from 2002 until 7 August this year. Aug. 11, 2010 - China landslide: More than 700 people confirmed dead
More than 700 people are now known to have died in a massive landslide in north-west China - making it one of the deadliest incidents so far in the country's worst flooding in a decade. Air Max 90 A frantic search is continuing for the more than 1,000 people still missing. Buildings were hit by a wall of mud so mighty that buildings seven storeys high crumpled like paper, says the BBC's Chris Hogg, in Gansu province. He says rescuers are searching by hand in the remote, mountainous region. A 52-year-old man was pulled alive from the rubble more than 50 hours after the disaster, and other rescue teams say they have heard "very faint" signs of life elsewhere, state media reported. Air Max 95 Chinese premier Wen Jiabao has urged rescuers to keep looking until they find every last survivor. But as the hours pass, hopes of finding survivors diminish. "Around me are relatives of missing people sitting dazed, shocked. Each of them has stories," our correspondent says. One woman has lost her husband and three teenage children. Until she saw their bodies with her own eyes she did not want to believe it, he adds. Air max 97 The death toll was revised upwards on Tuesday from 337, and officials say that figure is expected to rise. The weather forecast for the coming days is for heavy rain, which could hamper humanitarian work, and there is also the possibility of further landslides, says the BBC's Michael Bristow in Beijing. Supplies running low The landslides in remote Zhouqu county, Gansu, were triggered by torrential rains that hit the area late on Saturday. The thick layer of mud levelled an area 5km (3 miles) by 500m, Xinhua said. Air Max 360 Landslide debris blocked a river which then burst its banks, sending water, rocks and mud down several hillsides and on to homes. Soldiers have blasted through the blockage on the Bailong river, lowering the water level of an unstable lake created by the landslide. Thousands of people have been evacuated from downstream villages that could be engulfed if the natural dam bursts. Air Max 2010 The landslides came as China was struggling with its worst flooding in a decade, with more than 2,100 people reported dead or missing and millions more displaced nationwide. President Hu Jintao led a meeting of senior ministers on Tuesday on plans to handle the crisis, Xinhua news agency said. More than 7,000 soldiers, firefighters and medical staff are now at the scene of the landslide. The Chinese premier has visited Zhouqu, urging rescue workers on in their efforts and comforting those affected. Nike Air Yeezy Authorities have sent tents, food and water, but some supplies were reported to be running low because roads and bridges into the area have been destroyed. Aug. 9, 2010 - Gene link to meningitis infection
A set of genes which renders people more prone to meningitis has been pinpointed by researchers. Air Max 90 The international team compared DNA from 1,400 people with bacterial meningitis and 6,000 healthy individuals, Nature Genetics reports. They found differences in a family of genes involved in the immune response seem to make people more or less susceptible to the infection. It is hoped the findings will lead to the development of new vaccines. The researchers were looking at meningitis caused by the Neisseria meningitidis bacterium, which leads to swelling of the lining of the brain and blood poisoning. Air Max 90-360 It is not the first time researchers have attempted to find out if some people are more likely to catch meningitis because of their genetic make-up. But results have previously been unclear, probably because of the small number of people studied. In the latest study, researchers first scanned the whole genetic code of 475 British patients with meningococcal disease and 4,700 healthy individuals. They found a clear difference in a small set of genes known to be involved in the immune system response. Air Max 90 360 When they looked again in two other European populations they found the same result. Vaccine The genetic differences found means that, in some people, the bacteria is able to evade the immune system and cause infection, while other people' immune systems are better equipped to fight it off. The genes encode for a protein called factor H, and factor H related proteins. Where there are flaws, the meningococcal bacteria is able to bind to these proteins to prevent the immune system from recognising it - almost like a Trojan horse - enabling it to get a foothold. Air Max 90 Chi Town Study author Professor Michael Levin, an expert in international child health at Imperial College London, said the findings would be particularly useful in developing a vaccine against meningitis B, which is now responsible for most cases in the UK. There is already an effective vaccine against meningitis C. "It seems that the genetic differences in factor H between people is what determines susceptibility or resistance. "It suggests it may be an important protein to include in vaccines, and factor H is already one of the candidates for meningitis B vaccine." Air Max 90 CL He said the results will also help scientists better tailor vaccines to be effective in the whole population. It may also open up avenues for improving treatment once people have bacterial meningitis, he said. Sue Davie, chief executive of the Meningitis Trust, said: "This exciting work has thrown new light on factors that play a part in determining why some people get meningococcal disease and others do not. Air Max 90 Classic "Further work will be needed to establish just what the genetic differences are in the genes which actually cause this susceptibility to invasive infection, but this is a promising start." Aug. 6, 2010 - Chinese government linked with move to buy Liverpool
The competition to buy Liverpool has intensified amid further reports that the Chinese Government could be linked to a takeover bid for the club. Air Max 24 7 Reports suggested Kenny Huang, who has declared an interest in buying the club, was backed by the state-funded China Investment Corporation (CIC). But a source close to CIC told BBC Sport a link with Huang's QSL Sports Ltd would be "highly unlikely". It is understood as many as six rival bids were submitted last week. Air Max 360 On Wednesday, Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi said his consortium was in the "final stage of negotiation". Current owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks put the club on the market in April, with Liverpool's main creditor the Royal Bank of Scotland owed about ¡ê237m. Martin Broughton was brought in as chairman to oversee the sale process and he and investment bank Barclays Capital, who are leading the sale, will elect a preferred bidder by the end of next week. Air Max 90 Hong Kong-based investor Huang admitted his interest on Wednesday and is thought to value the club at about ¡ê325m, but has not yet made a formal offer. A statement from Huang's PR agency read: "Mr Huang would like to emphasise that he has registered interest in investing in Liverpool FC but has made no formal bid." Air Max 90-360 Reports on Thursday had suggested Huang's interest in Liverpool is backed by (CIC), an investment arm of the Chinese Government which also owns a stake in Canary Wharf. Kirdi's group of Canadian and Middle East investors claims it has agreed terms with Gillett and Hicks and is negotiating a purchase agreement with the Americans. Kirdi, who is now a Canadian resident and represents the Canadian-based group of investors, said: "Agreement has been reached on all major terms including the purchase price, repayment of the existing bank debt and financing of a new stadium in Liverpool's Stanley Park. Air Max 90 360 "A formal purchase agreement between the parties is in the final stage of negotiation." Kirdi promised that if the consortium was successful in its bid, money would be made available to Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson. He added: "With additional money to improve the squad and financing in place to build the new stadium, LFC will be on a solid foundation to compete in the Premiership and in Europe for years to come." Air Max TN Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has distanced himself from the off-field matters saying: "I don't get involved, I leave it to the people who know what they are doing." Aug. 4, 2010 - Mexico drug violence 'still growing'
Mexico's government says the level of drug-related violence in the country is still growing, more than three years after President Felipe Calderon declared war on the drugs cartels. Air Max 1 The national intelligence chief, Guillermo Valdes, said more than 28,000 people had been killed since 2006. The figure is a sharp increase on the previous estimate of 24,800 dead given earlier this month. Most of the dead are thought to be victims of clashes between rival gangs. Mr Valdes was speaking at a meeting with President Calderon and senior officials aimed at finding ways of improving Mexico's anti-drugs strategy. Air Max 1 Leather He said there had been 963 clashes between the security forces and drugs gangs since Mr Calderon took office, an average of almost one a day. Police and soldiers had seized 84,000 weapons, and confiscated more than $400 million (£250 million) in suspected drugs money, reducing the operational capacity of the criminal gangs. But there was a still a long way to go. Air Max 1 Mesh "In the objective of establishing conditions for peace and recovering control of regions affected by organized crime, we have not achieved what we wanted. We have growing violence," he said. Corrupting influence Mr Valdes also said the government had to do more to tackle money laundering and reinforce public institutions that were too weak to ensure security and justice. The Mexican government was involved in a "dispute and struggle" for control of state and local police forces, many of which had come under the control of drugs gangs, he added. Air Max 1 Premium Mr Valdes said the Mexico government was confronting a multiple challenge from criminal organisations that were well organised, with great fire power and a massive ability to corrupt. Violent clashes between drugs gangs fighting for territory and control of smuggling routes into the US had led to a general climate of insecurity throughout Mexico, he said. Aug. 2, 2010 - Herpes virus used to treat cancer
Doctors say they have used a genetically engineered herpes virus to treat successfully patients with head and neck cancer. Air Max 24 7 A London hospital trial of 17 patients found that use of the virus alongside chemotherapy and radiotherapy helped kill the tumours in most patients. It works by getting into cancer cells, killing them from the inside, and also boosting the patient's immune system. Further trials are planned for later in the year. Head and neck cancer, which includes cancer of the mouth, tongue and throat, affects up to 8,000 people every year in the UK Air Max 360. Study leader Dr Kevin Harrington, who is based at the Institute of Cancer Research in London, said current treatments were effective if the cancer was picked up early but that many patients were not diagnosed until it was more advanced. The herpes virus, which is also being tested in patients with skin cancer, is genetically manipulated so that it grows inside tumour cells but cannot infect normal healthy cells. Once there it has a triple effect - it multiplies, killing tumour cells as it does so, it is engineered to produce a human protein that activates the immune system and it also makes a viral protein that acts as a red flag to immune cells. Air Max 90 'Potential weapon' In the 17 patients injected with the virus, in addition to their standard treatment, at the Royal Marsden Hospital, 93% showed no trace of cancer after their tumour had been surgically removed. More than two years later, 82% of patients had not succumbed to the disease. Only two of 13 patients given the virus treatment at a high dose relapsed, the journal Clinical Cancer Research reported. Air Max 90-360 There were no safety concerns with use of the virus, the researchers said, and it is hoped the virus could one day be used to fight other types of cancer. "Around 35 to 55% of patients given the standard chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment typically relapse within two years, so these results compare very favourably," said Dr Harrington. He is now planning a trial comparing the viral treatment with the standard treatment in people newly diagnosed with head and neck cancer. Air Maxim 1 Dr Alison Ross, senior science information officer at Cancer Research UK, said it would be some time before the treatment could be used in patients as it still needed to be tested directly against standard treatment. But she added: "This small study highlights the potential of using genetically modified viruses as a weapon to fight cancer." Jul. 30, 2010 - Greek police clash with hauliers amid crippling strike
The BBC's Malcolm Brabant says the mood is Athens is "very angry" Air Max 1 Premium Greek police have fired tear gas to disperse hundreds of lorry drivers protesting in Athens. The drivers are refusing to obey an emergency government order for them to end a crippling strike. The strike, now in its fourth day, has paralysed Greece, depriving petrol stations of fuel and prompting tourists to cancel holidays. Air Max 180 Bottles were hurled outside the transport ministry as drivers tried to climb the gates and get inside. The BBC's Malcolm Brabant in Athens says the drivers are very angry, demanding compensation for reforms that aim to liberalise the freight sector. The drivers argue that new licence charges are unfair - well below the start-up fees of up to 300,000 euros (£250,000) that existing operators had to pay. Nike Air Structure Triax 91 Abandoned lorries Our correspondent says police are supposed to hand out papers to the drivers telling them that their lorries are being requisitioned. But many drivers have abandoned their lorries so the papers cannot be served. There are queues outside the few garages that are still open, and shortages of supplies mean some workers are being laid off at factories. The Greek government has used a rare emergency order to force the lorry drivers back to work. The measure is usually reserved for times of war or natural disaster. Air Max 180 Plus II The government wants to open the freight sector to more competition as part of austerity measures agreed with the IMF and the EU. The back-to-work order was issued hours after negotiations between the government and the drivers broke down. Jul. 28, 2010 - Burma's Than Shwe welcomed in Delhi
Reclusive Burmese junta leader General Than Shwe has received a red carpet welcome in the Indian capital on a state visit condemned by rights groups. Air Max LTD He met Indian PM Manmohan Singh in Delhi on a rare five-day trip that aims to deepen the economic and strategic ties between the two nations. Officials from the two countries signed deals to combat cross-border smuggling and increase trade. On Monday, pro-democracy protesters demonstrated against the visit. Air-Max-LTD2 They shouted slogans and carried posters in Delhi labelling the leader, whose regime crushed monk-led pro-democracy protests three years ago, a murderer and dictator. On Tuesday, the general was accorded a full ceremonial welcome at the presidential palace in Delhi, although the traditional guard of honour was missing because rain forced the event indoors. Officials later signed agreements aimed at tackling smuggling of weapons and drugs across their mutual border, and co- operation deals on science and technology. Air B Huarache Gas resources Burma's junta is accused of widespread human rights abuses. Until the mid-1990s, Delhi was a supporter of Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's imprisoned pro-democracy leader. But analysts say India's desire to compete with China for access to Burma's vast natural gas resources has since outweighed concerns over human rights. Air Max Plus Than Shwe is expected to seek India's endorsement for his country's first elections since 1990, which the military regime has said will be held later this year. Jul. 26, 2010 - Merkel vows 'intensive' probe of Love Parade deaths
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has demanded an "intensive" investigation into the deadly stampede at the Love Parade music festival in Duisburg. Air Max 180 Mrs Merkel said she had been "appalled" by the tragedy, adding that everything must be done to ensure such deaths did not happen again. The crush outside a tunnel at the entrance of the festival killed 19 people and injured 340 on Saturday. Survivors have blamed organisers for the deaths. They said the site was too small and warnings of overcrowding had been ignored. Air Max 180 Plus II The organiser of the festival has said there will be no more Love Parades. German prosecutors have launched a criminal investigation into the disaster. 'Terrible memories' Speaking in the town of Bayreuth, Mrs Merkel again offered her condolences to the families of those killed and injured, saying the federal administration had offered full support to the North Rhine Westphalia regional government. Air Max 2003 She said: "It now needs to be very intensively investigated as to how this happened because the many young people who were delighted to be going to the event have had... terrible memories and we have to do everything to make sure that something like this does not happen again." Mrs Merkel added: "The organisers have said themselves that they will not hold any more Love Parades but such large events need to be made safe and the federal states of course have the required police forces to do this." Air Max 2009 Festival organiser Rainer Schaller appeared with officials at a news conference in Duisburg on Sunday. He said: "The Love Parade has always been a joyful and peaceful party, but in future would always be overshadowed by yesterday's events. "Out of respect for the victims, their families and friends, we are going to discontinue the event in the future, and that means the end of the Love Parade." Air Max 2009 II Duisburg Mayor Adolf Sauerland said that although the question of why the disaster had happened was "absolutely justified and must be answered", he insisted that until the investigation was complete, any apportioning of guilt would be "out of order". "That would not serve the victims, nor would it serve the families," he said, adding that 16 of the dead had been identified. A police spokesman later said at least six of the victims were foreigners - from Australia, Italy, the Netherlands, China, Bosnia and Spain. They ranged in age from 20 to 40. Mr Sauerland said a security plan for the festival had been worked out beforehand "which gave no reason to believe that there would be a problem". Air Max 2009 III But BBC Berlin correspondent Tristana Moore says critics argued that the organisers and police were not prepared for such huge numbers of visitors and the site itself - an old railway yard - was too small and completely unsuitable. German media said the festival had drawn about 1.4 million people. However, the number has been contested. A local official in charge of the emergency response, Wolfgang Rabe, said the site "can hold 300,000 people and it was at no time full". Spiegel magazine reported on Sunday that the festival only had authorisation for 250,000 revellers. Air Max 2009 Leather The head of a major police union, Rainer Wendt, told the Bild newspaper his organisation had warned a year ago that Duisburg was "too narrow, too small to manage the masses of people". Police said that no-one had died inside the tunnel. Deputy police chief Detlef von Schmeling said: "Fourteen people died on the metal steps leading away from the tunnel, two on a wall outside the tunnel." Air Max 2009 Leather Si Police had reportedly closed the exit to the tunnel and were telling those trying to get in to turn around when panic broke out, although the exact circumstances of the stampede are still not clear. Eyewitnesses claimed they had tried to warn police before the stampede occurred that the tunnel was overcrowded, but said the authorities ignored their warnings. One Duisburg resident, who lit a candle at a tribute site on Sunday, said: "This is such a shame for the city of Duisburg. Who gave a licence for this sort of planning? Heads should roll." Jul. 23, 2010 - Bad weather in Gulf could threaten BP oil spill site
Experts are considering whether a possible tropical storm could disrupt work at the site of the BP oil spill. Nike Air Zoom Talache 1 If bad weather over the Caribbean strengthens and then moves to the site in the Gulf of Mexico, ships will have to be withdrawn. It could mean no work on the relief well for up to two weeks. A final piece of casing needs to be cemented in place at the bottom of the relief well before it can then drill into the damaged well. Air Max 2009 II Once the casing is in place, engineers could begin the last drilling within five to seven days and then "kill" the well with mud and cement. There is a 50% chance that a weather pattern currently over the island of Hispaniola will turn into a cyclone by Friday, the National Hurricane Center says. It is currently moving west-northwest. A reconnaissance flight is to be carried out on Thursday. Air Max TN Adm Thad Allen, the US official in charge of the spill response, said the decision whether to order ships out of the area would be a "judgment call" based on how the storm developed. Shell Oil has already begun to evacuate employees stationed out in the Gulf. Senior BP executive Kent Wells said the relief well currently had a plug in it below the surface in anticipation of bad weather. Air Max 2009 Leather "What we didn't want is to be in the middle of an operation and potentially put the relief well at risk," Mr Wells said. If the weather holds, a "static" kill - pumping mud into the top of the well through the new cap - could be done as an intermediate measure. BP and government experts are deciding whether this will take place. BP would need a weather window of two to four days to place the final bit of casing, cement it and then carry out the static kill operation, Mr Wells said. Air Max 2009 Leather Si Clean-up cost The cap applied last Thursday stopped oil leaking from the well for the first time since the explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig on 20 April. Eleven workers on the BP-leased rig were killed and the oil caused one of America's worst environmental disasters. The well is currently shut for an integrity test, to see if there are any ruptures beneath the surface. Air Max+ 2009 Adm Allen said BP and the government were still considering whether the well would be left shut or opened in the event that bad weather forced all the ships away from the site. Vast amounts of oil have entered the Gulf and BP says the cost of dealing with the spill has now reached nearly $4bn (£2.6bn). BP has moved to sell assets in Texas, Canada and Egypt in order to meet part of the clean-up bill. Air Max TN 10 Air Max TN 8 Air Max TN Special Edit Air Max TN10 Air Max Turbulence

Jun. 2, 2010 - You took it seriously listening
Now gucci mane she's Engel coefficient is much lower than I am, which makes me and her have a different sky. Terrace of her villa, she sat in his home on I could see stars, but I live in an old building 6th floor 17, are going up around the tower, I can imagine how far away the stars . You took it seriously listening Both men and women, who say in bed, table and said basically the same as in the wine can not be said to lie, but if you believed it, that you head is filled up. Yes ah, you ask him in bed (her): "I please?" "Love me?" He (she) is enough to say that bad do not love? Even if that does not love good, have to speak half-joking? Women often complain that men cheat her. To me that she is to say a man in bed too seriously. A man in bed woman promised to do, get out of bed will be forgotten after, if not forget, if a woman asked him to deliver, though not easy to say what his mouth, his heart gucci sneakers must be hated. As you drink alcohol, drink high, spirits Centre at say a word, people take it after the non-thing, would you be disgusted? Find this person kind enough? Yes, a woman complained that a man cheated myself After all, that is complaining about a man cheating on her in bed. But if he can lie to you the last bed is enough to lie to you ten times eight it? Since you think he fooled you, he no longer lie to you, and leave you deceive the other women went, why are you crying, call him on the phone crying hysterically angry with him then? Plainly, you stick to him in bed with those words you said, you secretly hold a glimmer of hope that he can deliver even half of those who said sweet too good! Of course, the woman in bed to say the same. Even that, there was a Taoxintaofei, but a woman heart, submarine pins, is fickle. When a Gucci Pumps for women woman love you, is dead set that she ask you to promise never to leave her, do not betray her, just love her a man. Her to cook and clean up the laundry room, said she'll always wait on you if you do not love her, she would die. Then one day, she left you, you feel cheated, she used you. You to get her job, bought a house, described the relationship between her lonely, you accompany her, she encountered problems, you give her as a mentor, she has no money, you give children is a Man her a card. But but but, she fully fledged, and even tell you, I'm sorry, I do not love you ... ... I was taken advantage Gucci Pumps sale of it? What did she take me? Step? Pole? ATM? Leisure tool? She needs me, I will come at the, now do not need, and I have to command it can go? Is man's money is not money? Man's time is not time? Man's feelings are not feelings? In the past I would be very sympathetic to this man, especially by young girls, tossing off the old man. But now I would say to them, let alone a woman cheat you, you are an age, and have normal intelligence, had been certain people advised you, other people could see the trap on you to see? When she took your ATM, you let her put ah? She take you for a leisure tool, you let her Gucci Pumps on sale leisure ah? She must also make you ecstatic, right?
